Getting Started

The Chelmsford Public Library's iPac, internet public access catalog, can be searched from:
  -any catalog computer in the library or
  -any computer with internet access
   

Go to www.chelmsfordlibrary.org
Click catalog in the left column

Note: If you click on the Chelmsford Public Library's (CPL) logo at the upper left corner of the catalog you will go to the CPL website (www.chelmsfordlibrary.org).

Login/Logout

1. Click Login at the top right of the page.

To login, enter your library card number, without spaces.
Enter your PIN number: by default, the last four digits of your telephone number.

3. Click Login
  Once logged in your name will be displayed in a welcome message. You will stay logged in with your name displayed until you logout, or until 10 minutes of inactivity.
4. To logout, go to Click here to logout at the top right of the page.

Searching for an Item

1. From the Search screen, you may search for items owned by any MVLC library.
2. Type your search term in the appropriate box and click GO.
  a.

For each item you will see the entry for the item and the image of a book jacket, if available. Chelmsford/MacKay shelf location, and check in / checked out status will be listed on this page depending upon the library you are in. The default from home is the main library.
Click More info/copies for more information about the item and copies at other libraries.

  b. To limit the results by format / library / language select from the drop down menu "limit by".
 Please NOTE you may select only one limiter at a time.

Placing a Request

1. While logged in, click Request Item for the title desired.
2. Select a Pickup Location.
3. Click Request.
Once a request is submitted, click Return to searching to return to your list.
(Click Request Item and select a Pickup Location for subsequent requests.)

Viewing Your Patron Account

1. Click the My Account tab to see a summary of all items out.
2. Click the Items Out hyperlink to see and renew checked out items.
Click any of the other hyperlinks for more detailed information.

Creating Reading Lists

You can create reading lists while logged in to the catalog.
Select titles and click Add to My List to create a list.
When you go to My List you can select titles and move them into new lists that you name.
You can create multiple reading lists.
Access your lists through your patron account.
