Laptop Access in the Library
The Chelmsford Public Library is pleased to offer both wireless and wired internet access for patrons with laptops. However, please note:
- The Library does not offer a secure wireless network. Information sent to/from your computer can be captured by someone with a wireless device and the appropriate software, within three hundred feet
- Library staff is not able to provide technical assistance, and no guarantee can be provided that you will be able to make a wireless connection. Library staff will not change any settings on your device
- The Library assumes no responsibility for the safety of equipment or for computer configurations, security or data files resulting from connection to the Library's network
- Patrons using the Library's internet connection, wireless or otherwise, must adhere to our Internet Use Policy
Connecting Your Computer to the Network
Ethernet ports are available on many work tables and study carrels throughout
the library. They are usually found on the ends of tables or the surface
of study carrels. Please do not use wall or floor ports. Ethernet cables
are available at the Reference Desk.
You will need a laptop with built-in WiFi capability, or a WiFi-compliant wireless Ethernet device installed on your laptop. Search the available networks for the Library's wireless networks, CPL-g or CPL-a (depending on your network card). No password or login is needed to connect.
