As part of our "One Book Chelmsford" program
we held a juried art exhibit inspired by the book,"Three Cups of
Tea." The following pieces and others will be displayed in the library
through the month of May 2009.

THREE CUPS OF TEA - Juried Exhibition May 2009

Exhibit Criteria: Artists are invited to submit samples
of their work for a special “Three Cups of Tea” Juried Exhibition
this May at the Chelmsford Library. All media: paintings, graphics, sculpture,
ceramics, textiles, mixed media, photography, digital art, printmaking
and three-dimensional art. Artwork may be submitted into one of two categories
-Adult (over 18) and Youth (middle school age to 18).
Artwork must reflect the title or themes of the “One Book Chelmsford”
2009 book selection, “Three Cups of Tea” by Greg Mortenson
and David Oliver Relin. Please visit the Chelmsford Library to get a copy
of the book. You may want to review some of the book’s chapter quotes
(such as the one listed below). They may offer inspiration for creating
your individual work.

A. Entry by Slide: Library of Congress
slide format - label the front of a standard 2x2 slide marked with Artist,
Title, Media, and Size. Indicate "Top" and place a red dot in
the lower left corner. Maximum 5 slides. Include a SASE for return of
slides.
B. Digital Entries: Jpeg images (5 max) will be accepted
on a CD or emailed with title, media, and size to kcryanhic@mvlc.org Make
sure file size is small enough to easily download. Fill out and mail entry
form or email required information.
Requirements: Work must be appropriately framed and ready
to hang using eye screws. Gallery wrap canvases will also be accepted.
Sculptures and 3D works will be accepted if they meet size requirements
determined by the size of the display
case.

Terms and Conditions: Artwork will be handled with due care and
consideration by experienced personnel; however, the Chelmsford Library
is not responsible for any accidental damage that may occur in moving
or hanging the artwork. Work submitted must be original. Works chosen
for the exhibit must remain on display for the entirety of the exhibition.
If work does not fully reflect the quality portrayed in the image emailed
the Library reserves the right to eliminate it from the show. We will
accept both artwork for sale and work designated NFS (not for sale). Images
of accepted work may be used for promotional purposes. Artists are responsible
for the cost of shipping and insuring work sent to and from the museum.

2009)
Terms and conditions of the “Three Cups of Tea” exhibit
-Artist’s signature below acts as a waiver that releases the Library
from any responsibility for loss or damage to works on display.
-Exhibits must conform to the space restrictions of the exhibit areas
provided.
-Nothing should be attached to walls. Do not use tape, labels, thumbtacks,
or adhesives for signage on any of the walls in the library.
-The Chelmsford Public Library does not allow solicitation or selling
of items in the library.
-Artistic works for sale may be purchased directly from the artist, but
only outside the library.
- No price tags may be affixed to the works exhibited or pricing lists
distributed in the library. (We will have a separate price list for those
works that are for sale.)
