Last year Jim was working on new works to exhibit at the Chelmsford Library in 2012. Sadly, in October 2011, he passed away unexpectedly. At the time he had completed about forty new paintings. Jim's family and friends have come together to make 'Jim's Show' a reality. This show includes many beautiful pieces of new art for sale. If you are interested in purchasing any of Jim’s works, please contact Mrs. Jean Rainville directly at 978.256.1304.

Artist's Biography
George "Jim" Rainville was born and brought up in Colebrook, NH and graduated from Colebrook Academy and the University of New Hampshire. After graduation he moved to Boston and worked for the Insurance Industry for forty years. He married Jean Kavanagh, from Beecher Falls, VT. Together they had a son and daughter who gave them five grandchildren. After George retired he was able to spend more time pursuing art. He studied drawing, painting, color studies and art history at the Massachusetts College of Art. His favorite subjects to paint were landscapes reflecting his love of nature and harmony with the environment, influenced by his childhood in rural New Hampshire.

Over the past years he had painted semi-abstract landscapes with more vivid use of colors and had increased the size of the paintings. He was a member of the Chelmsford Art Association and was active in local art activities. George received several awards from local art associations and was also a member of Boston's prestigious Copley Society on Newbury Street.
