Artist's Statement

"I left my native country of Azores Portugal in 1980, to come to the United States; this was a move that influenced my life forever. Art has always been part of my life. I used color pencils water colors and anything I could find to work with. I began to emerge as a serious artist in 1993. Although I received private training, I never studied painting at an institution; this allowed me independence and freedom to develop my own style.

My art consists of different styles of painting. I love a challenge. Most of my work is based in landscapes, sea scenes, abstracts and some still life.

My paintings are inspired from the beauty of the world itself. It is a record of my experiences and ideas and an expression of the heart and personal truth."
