Jin Rwei was born in Taiwan and emigrated to the United States in 1985. She has been a software engineer since 1995, and has worked for Nortel Network and several other computer companies. She currently works for Sonus Networks. Jin Rwei never pictured herself as an artist until 1998. Around this time, she decided to start oil painting as a hobby and took many oil painting lessons from a Chinese artist. With that she started a journey that has not stopped.

Jin Rwei loves impressionist artwork and has created more than 32 pieces of work so far, mostly landscapes. The mist, fog, reflections, and moon light, through which the real world is veiled in mystery are her favorite subjects.

Jin Rwei is inspired by the scenery of New England especially the foliage. "It is a truly breath-taking experience for a tropical islander." she says. Jin Rwei loves to travel and take pictures to inspire her paintings; Boldt Castle, Lake Winnipesauke and the pond next to Clark Art Institute are painted from her own photographs. Her friends have also provided photos for her to paint such as Harbor in Fog, Desert Mari Gold and Mt. Rainier. Photos from magazines are also good sources for her paintings (Snow, Spring, and Tuscany). It is her belief that one does not have to be physically present in order to capture the beauty of nature.

There are so many talented artists out there, but all that matters to Jin Rwei is to fulfill her own dream, to gain ultimate joy from her artworks and to share that joy with others.
