A native of Duxbury, MA, Kevin Hubbard began playing the guitar at age 18, dividing his energies among rock, jazz and classical styles. His formal training at the time included private lessons with a former student of Julian Bream, Hugh Geoghegan; arch-guitar pioneer Peter Blanchette; jazz guitarists David Paulson and John Damian, and award-winning composer and jazz guitarist Whitman Brown.

During the late nineties, Hubbard began to focus on the Spanish-style classical guitar, studying with Boston-area guitarist John Muratore, and attending an Eliot Fisk-hosted masterclass in Granada, Spain. In the spring of 2002, Hubbard received a Bachelor of Arts degree in music (magna cum laude) from the University of Massachusetts, where he studied with acclaimed acoustic guitarist Peter Janson.

In April of 2003, Hubbard released his debut CD, entitled Aspirations. The recording, which features the music of 14 composers (including Hubbard, who composed the title track), has been added to the playlists of over 60 classical radio stations throughout the USA and Canada, was featured on Boston radio station WBZ's Jordan Rich Show and
received a very favorable review in the March '05 issue of 20th Century Guitar magazine.

In January of 2O06, Hubbard released his second CD, a reissue of a 1981 recording,
entitled Avenues. The disc features another side of Hubbard's music - his original jazz
and rock compositions perforned on electric guitar with ensemble.
