Special - Art Workshop for Adults* - "Project Pinwheel"
with Joshua Shiau from the Rhode Island School of Design
Thursday, May 31, at 7 p.m.
Here's a chance for Chelmsford Art
to travel to the Burning Man Festival in the Black Rock Desert this August!!
Come share your voice! We welcome experienced and novice artists alike
to contribute work to Project Pinwheel, where your work will displayed
alongside the work of artists, writers, sculptors, poets, friends and
family from all around the globe. Built from your contributions and 100%
repurposed materials, the giant moving sculpture will display everyone’s
work on a international stage at the Burning Man Festival 2012 in a mosaic
of creativity and individual expression. The pinwheel is a blank slate
waiting to be filled with drawings, paintings, photos, prose, secrets,
or any other artwork you might imagine. You will be able to track the
path of your pinwheel through updates on our blog online and in October
2012 a documentary will be released, capturing the journey of the art
from your hands to construction in California to its final display in
the scorching Nevada Desert!. At this unique workshop, participants will
be supplied with craft material and templates. Feel free to bring flat,
light weight objects from home to add to your pinwheel and join with artists
around the world to make a statement on the power and importance of creativity
and community today!
*Geared for adults, but interested high school
students are welcome to attend.*
