A Step Beyond the Sketchbook
iPad Art by Trina Teele
Saturday, Feb 22, 2014 at 2 p.m.

Trina Teele is a local artist and life-long resident of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, who has found creativity to be a worthwhile and energizing pursuit for all. Her great interest in the essential role art and creativity play in our lives inspires her paintings and creativity blog (www.trinacreative.blogspot.com). This also keeps her collaborating with and studying alongside other artists. Trina’s style is abstract realism and her work is largely inspired by dynamic organic shapes, such as those found within a piece of fruit, a reflection in glass, a flower, or the human form.

Music has a strong influence on Trina’s painting process, helping her to draw out the rhythm of the textures and colors in the objects she paints. She strives to create a piece of art that is alive for the viewer, rousing the senses and capable of moving him/her emotionally.
Trina uses an iPad as a tool to further develop her artistic skills – much like a sketchbook. With it she both explores ideas for future paintings and intentionally maintains a flow of creativity. Using the iPad permits a different expression from a sketchbook and it allows her to explore color without the messiness and commitment of traditional art supplies.

Trina received a BFA degree in both painting and graphic design from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She maintains a freelance graphic design business (www.teeledesign.com). She has served on the board of the Chelmsford Art Society and is a member of the Brush Art Gallery, the Whistler Museum, and the Arts League of Lowell. She has volunteered as a teacher at the Under the Oak art-making ministry in Lowell, and teaches painting classes at The Art of Wine. Her work is regularly featured in local art shows and events and is available for sale as prints at http://trina-teele.artistwebsites.com. She welcomes you to visit her studio at the newly renovated Chelmsford Center for the Arts, 1 North Road in Chelmsford center.
