Here are two recent YA books that I can’t stop raving about!

Written in the Stars is Aisha Saeed’s debut novel–and it’s a harrowing ride! Naila’s conservative parents have always told her that she can choose a lot of things in life: her clothes, her hairstyle, and where she wants to go to college–but they’ll pick her husband one day. But when she falls in love with Saif, she never thinks that her parents will whisk her off to Pakistan to get away from him. But what starts out as a vacation turns into an absolute nightmare. Naila’s parents announce that they’ve chosen her a husband and that the wedding will take place immediately. I read this book into two days. Heart-poundingly suspensful, gripping, and incredibly well-written.

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli tells the story of sixteen-year-old Simon Spier, whose in the closet status is discovered by a “friend” who decides to blackmail him. He is now forced to play matchmaker for the class bully while somehow keeping his emails with his secret crush a secret–while somehow finding out the identify of said crush, of course. This book was heart-warming, hilarious, and utterly real.

And we own both of them at the library! Click on the links above to reserve your copy!
