We got wild in storytime this morning with books about alligators and crocodiles.
This book starts off as the classic Hans Christian Andersen tale of The Ugly Duckling, but when a crocodile finds his way into the story and wreaks havoc on the characters, it’s up to the reader to figure out how to get rid of him.
When the alligator crept up the stairs of the house, were the children scared? You bet they were! But they pluck up their courage until finally, it’s the alligator’s turn to feel afraid.
Everyone knows that crocodiles love to swim, but this crocodile is a little different. No matter how hard he tries, he just can’t bring himself to enjoy the water. When attempt at swimming causes a great big sneeze, could it be that this little crocodile isn’t a crocodile at all?
Next Wednesday’s storytimes will be a little bit different as we celebrate the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss! March 2 has been named Read Across America Day in honor of his life and work, and we will be celebrating with silly stories and birthday cake.
