Wednesday, May 9, 2012
CHS Performing Arts Center
7 pm – 9 pm

Join the Healthy Chelmsford Coalition, Chelmsford Coalition to Live Smart, Chelmsford Police Dept., Chelmsford School Dept., and Trinity EMS, Inc., in an “eye opening” drug awareness presentation.

The consequences of drug abuse and addiction cause people of all ages to suffer. Drug addiction is a chronic relapsing brain disease. The leading cause of death for young adults in this area is Opiate abuse!

This dynamic presentation will cover the topics of addiction and how addiction causes physical changes in the developing brain, discuss experimenting versus gateway drugs, and introduce the topic of pain and treatment as it relates to addiction. We will also discuss resources and proper medication disposal.

A personal story of addiction and the path he has traveled will be presented by a young 27 year old Chelmsford High alumni student.

If you would like any further information please call Sue Rosa, RN, Manager of Healthcare Services at the Board of Health 978- 250-5243, or you can print the program flyer [pdf].
