Local Assistance

The LRTA Road Runner Senior Service and Dial-a-Ride – (pre-registration required) This service is for 60+ years of age residents needing a ride between the hours of 8am- 4pm.  Before using this service, you need to register. Click here for the application form.

After you are registered:

Dispatch will accept phone reservations from 8am to 3pm, Monday – Friday.

Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance, cancellations must be made by 5pm on the day before the reservation and all rides are wheelchair accessible.

Senior Center and Council on Aging Ride Programs – For seniors with transportation needs within Chelmsford.

 

Bus Service:
Transportation to medical appointments within Chelmsford and into Lowell only, must be made a week ahead. Call (978) 251-0533. Within town, $1.50 each way. Medical trips to Lowell or Westford, $2.50 each way. (10:30am-2pm.) All ride requests must be called in AT LEAST 2 business days prior to your appointment. You will receive a call back to let you know whether or not we can honor your request, based on availability.

Friday Grocery Trips (4-bag limit):
All Grocery Trip ride requests must be called in AT LEAST 2 business days prior to Friday trip. Call (978) 251-0533. You will receive a call back to let you know whether or not we can honor your request, based on availability.

Need a ride to Lahey? Please call (978) 251-0533. based on driver availability. Cost $15 round trip (additional parking fees may apply.)

 


Lowell Transit Authority

Lowell Transit Authority has public buses that service the surrounding areas. The routes/times change, so check online before heading out to a bus stop. They offer discounted tickets for those 60 years of age or older with ID.
