Printing, Copying, Scanning, Faxing

The library strives to meet the research and homework needs of our patrons, and this includes offering basic office supplies and services.

At both libraries, printing from computer workstations to a B&W printer is $0.15 per page. The main library also has a color printer, located on the lower level, which costs $0.25 per page. Printing from the online catalog terminals is free.

If you have any trouble with the printers or pay-for-print station, or if you have an unusually large file to print, please see the desk staff for assistance.

Print From Anywhere

The library also has a Print From Anywhere service, which you can use to upload or email your print job – from home, your phone, anywhere – and pick it up at the library.

Public photocopiers are also available at both libraries, for items up to 8.5″ x 11″. At the main library, there is one on the main level across from the Circulation Desk, and one on the lower level next to the print station. The cost is $0.15 per copy.

For color photocopies, please see the Scanner section below.

Fax Machine & Online Faxing

A public fax machine is available in the main library, located next to the self-check out machines on the main level. The cost for faxing is $1.75 for the first page, and $1.00 each for any additional pages, and this machine accepts only credit, debit cards (no cash) or pre-paid fax cards (available at the front desk). There is an additional charge for international faxes.

Using this fax machine is very easy – just lift the handset, and follow the verbal instructions provided by the system.

Free Online Faxing
The websites below provide free faxing from a computer or smartphone. First scan your document then use one of these websites to fax:

Please Note: Free online services often collect data on their users. Be sure to read their privacy policies before use so you can decide whether or not to provide your data.

A scanner is available at the main library on the lower level. The scanner is free of charge, and can scan photographs or documents. OCR software is also available to convert scanned documents to searchable PDF files. For assistance in using or locating the scanner, please ask at the Reference Desk.

This scanner can also be used as a round-about way to make color copies – just scan your color item and print to the regular color printer.

Word Processing & Typewriter

A typewriter is available at the main library on the lower level. For assistance in using or locating the typewriter, please ask at the Reference Desk.

Also, for other typing needs, Microsoft Word is available on all the computers on the lower level of the main library and at the MacKay branch.
