Town of Chelmsford Council on Aging/Senior Center

The Chelmsford Senior Center is located at 75 Groton Road, North Chelmsford and is open to senior citizens, 60 years and over, from Chelmsford and area communities. Local Senior Support Organizations

  • Age Friendly Chelmsford – A new initiative to enable people of all ages to actively participate in the community. Coordinated by the Council on Aging and other town departments, including the library.
  • AgeSpan: Formerly Elder Services of Merrimack Valley and North Shore. A private non-profit agency serving elders and disabled adults who reside in Northeast Massachusetts. Their mission is to support an individual’s desire to make their own decisions, secure their independence, and remain living in the community safely.
  • Chelmsford Veterans Agent – The Chelmsford Veterans Services office administers a state/town public assistances program under Chapter 115. We provide short term, temporary, and financial assistance to eligible veterans and their families. We assist eligible veterans using a monthly grant and some medical coverage. Their website also includes links to other important services for veterans.
  • Lowell Community Family – An adult day health care for seniors with six-hour day programs that include nursing care, nutrition, therapeutic activities, social services and transportation. They work to meet the needs of adults that require medical monitoring and socialization.
  • Massachusetts American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) – AARP’s mission is to empower people to choose how they live as they age. Offers information on insurance, housing, benefits, travel and more.
  • MA Executive Office of Elder Affairs – (phone: 800-243-4636) Promotes independence, empowerment, and well-being of older people, individuals with disabilities, and their families. Helps with: prescription drugs, care giving, community resources, local programs, home care, housing and assisted living, and referrals.
  • MCPHS Pharmacy Outreach Program – A community service provided by the Massachusetts School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Phones are staffed by case managers, licensed pharmacists and students who can give you a review of your medications and prescription drug coverage. They can also provide information regarding access to affordable medications for both uninsured and under-insured residents of Massachusetts.   • Massachusetts Senior Care Association – The state’s leading senior care organization representing nursing facilities, assisted living residences and continuing care retirement communities and provides information on general senior care resources in Massachusetts, including a facility finder.
  • SHINE: The Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone [SHINE] Program provides free health insurance information and counseling to all Massachusetts residents with Medicare and their caregivers. People who have Medicare or who are about to become eligible for Medicare can meet with a counselor to learn about benefits and options available.
