Volunteer in the Children’s Room

  • We are no longer accepting applications for Summer 2014.  Applications will be available in August for the Fall.

  • Volunteers must be in 7th grade to apply. 

  • In order to do any work in the Children’s Dept,  you MUST come to a MANDATORY training session even if you’ve volunteered for us before.

  • We holding training sessions in September, January and June.  You only have to do it once, but you CANNOT volunteer for a program with children unless you do so. We will be going over administrative procedures, introducing you to staff, going over new policies and talking a bit about how to work with children (and grown ups).

  • We are not accepting applications for new Story Teens at this time.  Please check back in the fall.

Volunteer for the library!

  • Apply to be a Volunteer Shelf Reader!  Shelf reading is a detail oriented job that involves making sure the books are in order on the shelves.  Once I receive your application I will assign you to one of 4 departments: Children’s, Reference, Circulation or the MacKay branch library.  You must be in 7th grade to apply.  Download an application!
    RIGHT NOW THERE ARE NO SHELF READER OPENINGS.  PLEASE CHECK BACK IN JULY.

  • Help out at the Friends of the Library Book Drops.  They need help unloading and organizing books!  Drop in!  Check the schedule here!

  • Sign up for the mailing list so you can hear about other volunteer opportunities.  Email Sharon at scolvin@mvlc.org.
