Become a Fixit Clinic Fixer

Are you someone who others consider ‘handy’? Do you like to take things apart to learn how they work? Do you often fix your own broken things? Then join us as a fixer and teach others how to repair everyday items!

The Chelmsford Public Library, with participation from the Chelmsford Recycling Committee, hosts Fixit Clinics every two months in the large meeting room at the main location. Fixit Clinics are volunteer-led events where people bring their broken items and learn from one of the handy volunteers how to fix them. The inspiration for these events comes from Peter Miu’s Fixit Clinic model. Through learning how things work and how we might repair our things, we can reduce the amount that we throw away, and the amount we need to buy again. We are looking for a number of skilled and tech-savvy makers to serve as fixers at these events.

Help is needed in the following categories:

  • Digital Devices
  • Clothing and Textiles
  • Electronics
  • Small electrics
  • Bicycles
  • Jewelry

If you think you can help, please fill out this Fixit Clinic recruitment form and we will be in touch about our next event.
