This Saturday, December 3, is the library’s annual Gingerbread Festival!  You can decorate a cookie, listen to some stories, sing songs, and make a craft.  The fun starts at 10:30 AM;  all ages are invited.  In honor of this event, we started storytime with a version of this classic tale.  The spunky gingerbread man can easily outrun all of his pursuers, but what happens when he meets a sly fox?  Alas, in this telling there is NOT a happy ending for our intrepid cookie!

Mo Willems is an author with whom many children are familiar.  They love his Elephant and Piggie and Pigeon books.  Nanette’s Baguette is his newest tale, full of fun and tongue-twisting rhymes.  Our protagonist is thrilled to be assigned the task of going to the bakery all by herself to buy a baguette– but the fabulous smell of fresh, warm bread is a temptation almost impossible to resist.  Does the baguette make it home intact?  Read the story to find out!

Image of item Pete the Cat is also a favorite character for many.  We had fun singing Pete’s song and shouting out the different colors of his shoes as he steps into piles of strawberries, blueberries, and more.  Pete just keeps walking along and singing his song, because “it’s all good.”
